For the second year, the music department has held a concert involving pupils who receive musical tuition. The first concert was held in the Music Room and this year we have grown so much that we had to hold the performance in the Assembly Hall. This is evidence of the musical talent and ability of the pupils in the college. The programme consisted of 19 soloists (vocals, guitar and drums), school band, wind ensemble and vocal group performances where the audience was taken on a journey of music through time ranging from Offenbach, to Beethoven to Rag ‘n’ Bone Man.
The concert was the school band’s first public performance and they did extremely well performing Amy Winehouse’s “Valerie” and Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep”. Many of the acts on the evening were pupils’ first time performing and all should be very proud of what they have achieved. The concert was attended by parents, extended family, friends, teaching staff, governors and members of our parent group. The evening was completed by some light refreshments and a chance to mingle and chat with parents and tutors.
