New

Energy of the Future

Members of the Science Department welcomed Mr Paul Davidson and Mrs Christine McAlistair from NI Water who briefed our Year 11 Science students on the new solar powered facility being installed at Dunore point on the shores of Lough Neagh. This will be used to supply electricity for water treatment. They explained that NI water is one of the biggest consumers of electricity with an annual bill in the region of £30 million! The new solar energy facility, costing £7 million to install, covers 33 acres of land and is expected to have a lifespan of 20 years. Hopefully, it, will save at least

£500, 000 each year in electricity costs.
